How to build a gallery wall you won't second-guess

How to build a gallery wall you won't second-guess

Gallery walls go wrong in the planning, not the hanging. Sort the layout first and the rest is easy. Here's the method we use.

Trace and tape

Cut paper to the size of each frame, then tape the shapes to the wall. Live with them for a day. You'll move things around for free instead of patching holes later.

Pick an anchor

Start with your largest piece, slightly off-center, and build outward. A clear anchor keeps the whole arrangement from drifting into chaos.

Keep the gaps even

Two to three inches between frames, all the way around. Even spacing is the difference between "designed" and "I just kept adding things."

Mix styles on purpose

A gallery wall is the one place our three flower styles play well together. A Bloom poppy next to an Heirloom rose next to a Sage violet reads collected, not matchy.
